The British Council exam centre won the Best Marketing Award at the Platinum Centre of The Year Awards 2012 – an award ceremony for the English exam sector organised by University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL).

The competition was open to Cambridge ESOL’s Platinum Centre Network – an initiative to encourage even closer ties between Cambridge ESOL and its growing centre network. British Council Romania impressed a panel of judges at Cambridge with their integrated use of online and traditional marketing communications tools such as social media, direct mail along with advertising and promotion across a range of channels to maximise the organisation’s marketing collateral.

The award was presented to Roxana Ene, Business Development Manager for British Council Romania by Cambridge ESOL’s Chief Executive Dr Mike Milanovic. Roxana Ene said:

“I feel this is a great honour to receive this award. We’ve been offering Cambridge English exams for more than 17 years and we find they can change lives through opening up opportunities for studying and working abroad.”

Cambridge ESOL’s Dr Mike Milanovic commented:

“British Council Romania really impressed the judges with their creative approaches to marketing. When you consider the stakes associated with choosing the right English test, it’s essential that candidates get clear messages about the benefits associated with individual tests and this is often achieved through innovative and memorable marketing initiatives. It gives me great pleasure to present them with this award.”

They were one of 15 shortlisted finalists for the Platinum Centre of the Year Awards 2012 who were given the red carpet treatment at the 500 year old St John’s College, Cambridge last week. The full list of winners in each category was:

Best Customer Services Award, Anglo Montevideo (Uruguay);

Best Marketing  Award, British Council Romania;

Best Innovation Award, International House Mexico (Mexico),

Best Business Growth Award, Exams Catalunya (Spain);

Best Business Growth Award, Oxford Institute (Italy).
