Cambridge English was once more present at the 2013 RATE Conference on ‘New and Old Challenges in ELT’, held in Cluj-Napoca between 8-10 November. Attended by more than 350 participants, it aimed at facilitating the sharing of good practice, updating participants on the latest approaches in the field and promoting reflective practice among teachers of English. The participants had the opportunity to meet ELT specialists from all over the world and to express their views on new and old ideas in language teaching with a particular focus on what works in the class as seen by practitioners.

RATE organisers commented on the event: ‘The presenters brought a remarkable contribution to the success of the conference through the quality of the presentations and willingness to share good practice with other teachers of English. Their enthusiasm has been inspirational for many teachers, who went home with many ideas and activities to use in their classes.’

Teachers visiting the Cambridge English stand were glad to comment on how they felt the conference as a unique opportunity to meet specialists in the field. Deemed a success in terms of both attendance and set up, this year’s conference offered ‘very informative and inspirational’ plenary sessions with most teachers confessing that attendance was a pleasure and that they already look forward to next year’s event.
