with 4 comments

Svetlana Bozhinova, an English language teacher, Regional Methodology Advisor, and Director of Studies at Europe Schools, Pleven, has won the 2014 ‘Bill Shephard IATEFL Scholarship’, awarded by Cambridge English Language Assessment. As part of her prize, Svetlana will enjoy an ‘all expenses paid’ trip to the 2014 Conference held by IATEFL (the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language), in Harrogate, England: ‘I am proud and honoured to have won the Scholarship,’ says Svetlana, who also hopes that the Conference will be ‘a fruitful, enriching and stimulating experience’.

Scholarship entrants write an essay – set by Cambridge English Language Assessment – on an issue relevant to English language teaching and assessment. Svetlana’s winning submission described a task designed to motivate teenage language students which the judges described as ‘an involving discussion activity which students are likely to find very motivating’.

Five Cambridge English IATEFL Scholarships are awarded annually to recognise best practice in teaching, assessment and professional development. Details of the 2015 Scholarships will be announced shortly.

    • Hi Tatjana,

We do not have this information in our regional office so I assume that the winner was from a country that we are not reponsible for. However, should we receive this information we will surely post it here.

Happy New Year by the way!

      • Hi Tatjana,

The scholarship you mention was won by Sabina Pillai, Associate Professor of English at Delhi University, India.

        Hope this helps.
