Cambridge English Language Assessment sets new foundations for growth in Southern Europe

Cambridge English Language Assessment has been highly successful over the last few years, with excellent growth in just about every area of our work. Based on the expertise and commitment of our staff, along with the quality and effectiveness of the systems and processes we use for delivering exams, we are constantly expanding the range of products and services we offer to attract a larger and more diverse customer base and provide a better, faster and more flexible service to our customers. This has helped us to increase our influence on language education around the world, making Cambridge English the world’s leading name in English language teaching, learning and assessment as further demonstrated by our ever strengthening collaboration with Cambridge University Press.

The hub for Southern Europe

With hub offices already being established across several key regions around the world, the Southern Europe hub will be covering Italy, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Malta, Serbia, Adria and the Caucasus region as well as a number of other countries. Based in Bologna, Italy and in close collaboration with the Athens, Greece office, the new hub will operate with increased staffing, allowing us to provide a fuller service to our customers through a much enhanced ability to respond to local needs.

As with all Cambridge English Language Assessment hubs around the world, Southern Europe will have a management structure that enables it to operate more independently, as the organization moves away from its previous Cambridge-based model to adopt a truly global character. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to our new Regional Director and  Heads in Southern Europe who will be working with a number of staff to support you and your students:

Nick Beer, based in Bologna, is the Regional Director and has overall responsibility for regional operations in Southern Europe.

Sarah Ellis, based in Bologna, is the Head of Assessment.

Peter McCabe, also based in Bologna is the Head of Business Development.

Dionysia Ioannou, who is based in Athens, is the Head of Marketing.

Alberto Svelto will join the organisation in January as the Head of Network Services and will also be based in Bologna.

Over the coming months and as we put these new structures in place, we will do everything we can to keep you all informed of the process through email updates, face-to-face meetings as well as our increasingly strong digital media channels such as, Facebook, Twitter, our new, dedicated websites and our regional blogs.
