Cambridge English would like to congratulate the students of “The Victoria Company”, a preparation centre in Jesi, Italy for their successful theatrical initiative titled “Shakespeare in a box”.

Involving a total of 650 students, the play’s subject was the offering of an imaginary “box-shaped” present to Shakespeare for his birthday, containing everything the students had learned by studying his works and their characters. The final performance was held at the Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi (Marche, Italy) where students performed in English, leaving the audience to select the winners from 26 finalists. The first prize went to class 4A at the “Leonardo da Vinci – Secondary School” in Jesi, whilst school prizes were shared between classes 4P at the “Leopardi Secondary School” of Recanati and classes 4E at the Secondary School “V. Emanuele II”, 3A at the Secondary School “Mannucci” and 4BL of the “Leonardo da Vinci” secondary school, allin Jesi.

This theatrical project helped encourage the use of English as a way of communication, showcasing how collaboration between schools and institutions can benefit their students.

We look forward to their next play!
