Tips for struggling learners

leave a comment »

Sometimes, your child may find their language lessons hard. They might need some extra time to review or practise what they’ve learned, or they may just need to boost their confidence. Try these tips:

  • Be positive and focus on what your child can do. For example, if you are watching a cartoon in English, praise your child for listening and recognising familiar words or phrases.
  • Be patient, help your child correct their mistakes and remember that we all learn at a different pace.
  • Get your child to take a few minutes every day to look at a book or to go around the house pointing out things in English (colours, food, objects, etc).

Encourage your child to repeat the language/words that they learn at school – when you are going to school, for example.
