AR Project 2: Preparing students for an academic presentation: Maximising class time

Our action research (AR) project was driven by a desire to find out how we, as teachers, could best equip our intermediate/upper-intermediate students for an academic spoken presentation within a limited time frame.

Our research took place in an English language intensive courses for overseas students (ELICOS) college which, like many others, faces various time restrictions, administrative requirements, and classroom size parameters (maximum 18 students). Within the context of a growing language institute, our research aimed to uncover the essential elements of academic oral presentation course design.
