Cambridge English certificates for young students become equivalent to important admission tests

As of this June, all young learners from Romania holding a Young Learners Movers or Flyers certificate will be exempted from the admissions test to the 5th grade English intensive classes. The decision taken last month by the Romanian Ministry of Education is great news for all Romanian learners who study English in their school or as part of their after school learning activity.

According to Ministry official address Nr. 40029 issued on 19/5/2015, all candidates with a minimum of 11 shields at the Cambridge English: Young Learners Movers or Flyers will be exempted from the admissions test to the 5th grade English intensive classes.  In order to secure the exemption, candidates must have gained 4 shields in two skills and 3 shields in another skill. This equivalence is taking effect later this month and adds to the existing recognition of Cambridge English exams by the Ministry of Education in Romania.

Cambridge English: Key/ Key for Schools and Preliminary/Preliminary for Schools exams (levels A2 or above) are equivalent to 9th grade bilingual English classes while all Cambridge English Preliminary/ Preliminary for Schools to Proficiency certificates are offering exemption to the Baccalaureate linguistic test.

Cambridge English examinations, developed and assessed by the non-teaching department of the University of Cambridge, are leading to the most widely recognized English Language qualifications for education and career purposes in Romania and abroad. According to a parents’ survey run by Cambridge English last year, 6 out of  10 parents in Romania recognize the Cambridge English brand as the main international English Language Exams provider.
